New algorithm needs evaluation

We have a new experimental algorithm which is showing promise. It’s early days and we don’t expect it to perform better all the time, but it definitely performs better more often than we expected.

So we would appreciate some external feedback. This available with the URL parameter ‘m=168’ or via our evaluator page. We will of course be iterating on it as feedback comes in.

Feedback via the evaluator would be preferred: https://www.mojeek.com/eval.

fwiw in relation to eval, not the algo - non-English ones appearing (for me) make it slightly harder to compare e.g. “six nations 2025” due to seeing results I wouldn’t normally see on live.

Hi @ricardo81, as you probably realise eval is not using language and location boosts, so we can compare the core algo. If a non-English page is in the both and the same position then it should make no difference to your vote, obviously. If it isn’t in just one or it’s in a higher position, and so makes the results worse, then you obviously that should swing your vote for the other being better. Thank you.

ofc, just the burden of comparing and what we’re actually comparing.

There is a third-option besides the cookie m=168 or visiting https://www.mojeek.com/eval

You can add /eval as a search engine to your web browser. That allows you to use the search box in your web browser but also access the ranking ballot.

Use the search engine URL:

https://www.mojeek.com/eval?q=%s

It should be easy to add this in Chrome.

You can follow Josh’s instructions for Firefox:
