What Would a Mojeek Trends Dashboard Look Like?

Hello

I have been thinking about tools like Google Trends that show what people are searching for most; but I love that Mojeek is an independent engine that prioritizes privacy & doesn’t track users. :innocent:

Wouldn’t it be fascinating to have a privacy-friendly version of search trends something that reflects what users are searching for on Mojeek without compromising anonymity?

I think it could help content creators and researchers see where interest lies without linking data to individuals.

Of course; I understand the real challenge: publishing search patterns could tempt SEO gaming or spam; even if the data is aggregated. Still, there might be safe ways like releasing anonymized, less granular trend data that preserve Mojeek’s integrity while offering value to the community. :innocent:

Could Mojeek consider making such insights available while remaining decentralised and private? :thinking:Checked Why Mojeek? guide for reference.

On a related note; while discussing dashboards and data displays, I wondered what Is Power BI Dashboard; just out of curiosity on how visualization platforms spotlight trends / patterns. :innocent: It might be interesting to see how a tool like that could translate into a Mojeek-specific insights page.

Thank you !! :slightly_smiling_face:

I would say a big NO.

Hello @fopodon, welcome and thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Our priority is to improve Mojeek for users (and API customers). Tools for researchers and content creators like this, are less important that improving search quality and tools for the same people and everyone else. Still we are open to hearing your reaction to this, and what others here think of your suggestion.

Other than content creators and researchers, this might also give general users an idea on how to search using Mojeek. By seeing how others search, you might change (and improve) your own way of searching.

I always love seeing what queries others use in threats on this forum. In that sence, I think a tool/page/box… that shows what others have searched for (perhaps, for example, a few highlighted searches with or without some extra context or explanation) might be cool.

Though I do understand the choice not to copy the trends tool from Google.
