We will not replace search results with AI-generated answers.

One reason I use search is because AI is so unreliable.
For example, I went to google.com, searched for information on a Google product, and read the AI Overview. But, the source given for a key piece of Google licensing information came from a third-party vendor’s website. I didn’t get an authoritative answer from Google–like all the other junk normally in Google results; I didn’t get a link to an authoritative answer on a Google web property; I didn’t even get contact information for sales. The only reason I know anything about licensing is because Google scraped information about their own product from another website and presented that as its own via Overview.
They get away with this because Google is a monopoly.
