Mojeek is very silent lately.
Especially since Colin left as CEO. The last time I read an blog article that was about Mojeek itself, and not a more general subject, was in 2024.
I really hope that this EU-based search index will survive and grow steadily.
I’m not asking for sharing company secrets or very long blog articles, but now and then some info about what’s in the works and/or how many pages are now indexed.
Sorry for the silence, we’ve been quietly getting on with some exciting improvements that should start to be rolled out within the next month or two. The index is still growing and currently has 9.76 billion pages.
Also @Jonathan has recently joined us, so we will start to interact and let you know what is going on more once he has settled in. Jonathan has not been brought in to replace Colin, but he will pick up a lot of the work Colin and Josh were doing.

That raises a really interesting point. How many indexes have surpassed 10 billion? Not very many.
Congrats to Mojeek for persisting. Cuil from way back in the day claimed to have billions but they didn’t last long. It seems with AI absurdity that alternatives are more important than ever. I’m waiting for a turning point where people are sick of the ai-adfinitum and just want human ideas.
It’s been about 4 years since I made Mojeek my default search engine and it still is my default search engine everywhere. I don’t post in the community anymore because I don’t have the time, but I never stopped using Mojeek. Josh, Colin, and Ricardo were great at interacting with the community and I learned a lot from them, and it was nice to be able to talk to the people behind the search engine I use every day.

I don’t expect Mojeek to be very active on this forum and/or on SM, but I was a bit worried when Colin left and the long silence that followed after that.
Good to see Mojeek is still ‘alive’!
