The opportunity secured by Google was not put out to public tender as no money was changing hands, a government source said.
That’s not how this works.
Much like another recent post, Google is just hooking government employees on freebies. It is incredibly unlikely the government will just give up the new software and workflows when the free trial ends.
Remember that the UK pioneered Government Digital Service.
Don’t let that legacy go the way of 18F.
