Getting the Best out of Keyword Web Search

We’ve published a blog post on how to more effectively write search queries for Mojeek here.

We’ve illustrated this through an example, and show how this got us to more relevant and deeper information sources. The advice will help in all types of queries. If you have your own tips and advice, demonstrated with examples, please add them to this discussion. Questions are most welcome too.

My old post on the 2022 midterm elections is a good example of the types of skills you can use while performing a keyword search. It shows how I used keywords to find the information I was looking for. And it shows how I evaluated my search results. Note that in my post I use the phrase “lexical search” which is a type of keyword search.

Below, you can also view a step-by-step guide to using temporary search parameters (like the description length &dlen= ).

With respect to the Mojeek community, it might be helpful to have a Discourse category dedicated to asking questions about keyword search: something like “I Need Help Using Mojeek”.

Oh, I didn’t realize you could filter by TLDs using the site: operator! That’s cool!

Definitely something I’m going to add to my repertoire. I have a specific question about filtering multiple TLDs in one search, but I’m going to ask it in Filter results by TLD
